Anthoney Teng was born in Fujian, China, grew up in Taiwan, and completed his advanced science training in the U.S. Throughout his undergraduate career he took Chinese herbal medicine as one of his best extra-subjects and practiced herbal therapy in the local community. He pursued a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and contributed research in Genetic Engineering at Yale University in the late 1970’s and taught Applied Biochemistry at Kiel University in Germany in early 1980’s. During those years he never stopped investigating the myth and collecting the therapeutic skills in formulated Chinese herbal medicine. In 1985 Dr. Teng had the opportunity to go to Hunan, China for academic exchange. There he came across a real master in acupuncture and herbal medicine of the “Chang Sha” school, Dr. Da-Chang Wang. Totally intrigued, and convinced of the unquestionable power of acupuncture coupled with traditional herbs, Dr. Teng started to realize the integrated core of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and stayed there four years to engage in an apprenticeship with his instructor Dr. Da-Chang Wang. After that time, he even developed new ideas and skills in acupuncture, combination of herbal formulas, and wrist pulse diagnosis. The merge of his profession into Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine was thus invariably destined.
Dr. Teng naturally became a licensed acupuncturist in California and a diplomate of acupuncture and oriental bodywork therapy of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He practices with thorough understanding of hundreds of herbal formulas and command of the singular technique of Chang Sha Needle in performing acupuncture. Dr. Teng’s unique wrist pulse analysis has reliably provided accurate holistic diagnosis for his patients. This has been time and again confirmed by subsequent lab tests and even MRI scans. His masterful approach has promoted fast symptom improvement and pain reduction for his patients, and has brought them back to a physically and mentally balanced state.
